Walmart Ready For Permission to Use Drones For Delivery

Walmart, which is the world's largest retailer by revenue, has applied to US regulators for permission to use drones for delivery, pickup and checking inventory.

Walmart had been initially testing the drones indoors, which have been made by China's SZ DJI Technology Co Ltd. Now, they hope to test outside.

Using drones will help running the business easier and more convenient. These drones will do inventory of warehouses and speed up distribution of goods. In addition to using them at their stores and warehouses,they wish to use them for deliveries to their stores, as well as to their customers by delivering to their homes.

To do this, Walmart needs permission from the Federal Aviation Authority. Then they will research into this and test out how the system is working and what needs to be tweaked and improved, as well as do risk analysis. WalMart spokesman Dan Toporek said the company would move quickly to deploy drones depending on its tests and regulations.

Other companies such as Amazon and Google Inc have already taken this initiative.

With increased awareness nowadays, the general public also aware of it. In a survey conducted of fifteen hundred adults, done by Chapman University of Orange, California, out of the top five things Americans fear, three are technology related!

While corruption may take the top spot, Americans are increasingly worried about cyber terrorism, followed the invasion of privacy brought upon by tracking by both the corporate industry and the government. It is obvious privacy is incredibly important, and a future where one's every little detail is observed is indeed terrifying.

Microsoft Introduces its First Laptop

After decades as a household name in the technology world, 2015 is finally the year Microsoft launches its first own laptop, the Surface Book. It will be running the latest version of Windows, Windows 10.

The Surface Book will function as both a laptop and a tablet, as its keyboard and screen can be removed from one another. Microsoft's latest product is reportedly twice as fast as Apple's Macbook and will hit stores October 26th, priced at $1499.

Coming towards the Surface Book's features, it has a 13.5 inch display with 267 pixels per inch. The screen can also be folded behind the keyboard to function as a notepad thanks to an innovative design by Microsoft.

In addition, the Surface Book will run on i5 or i7 Intel processor and is light at just 3.5 pounds.

Microsoft also launched other products, apart from the Surface Book, including a line of Lumia smartphones, a new Surface Pro tablet and an updated version of its wearable fitness tracker, Microsoft Band. All of these, like the Surface Book, will be running on Windows 10.
