We've all seen those movies, taking place in a dystopian world where machines somehow gained sentience and took over. Giant robots and machines controlling us, the way we controlled them. Technology is constantly evolving and it seems that every day there is something new. With how exponentially the world is advancing and thus, making our lives much, much easier, one sometimes wonders if all this is going to backfire on us?

Listening to all this, it does sound very bleak and perhaps also rather dramatic. But while giant robots with brains may not be a concern, the technology that so benefits us, is also bringing with it some cons. Negative impact of technology is not simply a fear of the future, it's something that's happening now.

With increased awareness nowadays, the general public also aware of it. In a survey conducted of fifteen hundred adults, done by Chapman University of Orange, California, out of the top five things Americans fear, three are technology related!

While corruption may take the top spot, Americans are increasingly worried about cyber terrorism, followed the invasion of privacy brought upon by tracking by both the corporate industry and the government. It is obvious privacy is incredibly important, and a future where one's every little detail is observed is indeed terrifying.

Technology and Us

I'm thirsty but wait, just let me update my status on Facebook that I'm drinking water, I'm at a funeral but wait just let me take a selfie, I'm at a restaurant but just let me upload the photos of my meal, I've got my first salary/income/earning but just let me showoff a bit on social media. and it can go on and on like that. Many more statements same like these you are either hearing right now or you already have heard many of these and much more. This is just a slightest bit of what technology has done to us.

I know many people will say whatever keep talking, you are just jealous of technology or you are not a well wisher of it. But just for a moment, be calm and think what we were used to be and what we are now. You have to admit if you are given a robot, you'll definitely order that thing to do your every work instead of yourself.

You used to meet your friends before Facebook and other websites like this became so common that even if you are at your friend's house, you'll be texting him on Facebook to tell him that you are at his door. Seriously? You've become so lazy to ring the doorbell. Instead of enjoying on an adventure with friends you are most interested in taking pictures and getting likes, comments and shares on that. That's the first priority for you.

You are not going to exercise but you'll use gadgets like weigh loss belt. Don't want to go to the cinema with friends because I've computer at home and I'll prefer to watch that at home being more comfortable.

Just ignore all the guests present at your home at the moment and like photos of friends which aren't even online. Don't want to talk to family members, why? Because I'm on Skype with my friend.

I'm not saying that you should not use these things, but just think for a moment what kind of impact the technology is causing on our lives. We're getting away from real persons, things and world and getting closer to the artificial things which are made by us. The things we've made are dominating us. They are in control in a way if you think deeply.

Before criticizing anything, just think for a while what should we do more and what should we do less. Use the technology but don't let it get control of your lives for God sake. Have some time away from all these things, be with your real friends, go out with them, have fun, sit with your family, sit with your guests, instead of taking selfies at a funeral or whatever the event is, show your respect or happiness to the person involved. Take some time for yourself instead of giving it to the artificial temporary things made by you.
