Verizon Car Doctor finally in market
These days,
car manufacturers are including all sorts of gadgets in their cars. A number of
startups like Mojio and Automatic are making use of it and are earning
themselves huge profits by turning antique and plain old cars into connected ones.
Verizon has
today also launched its own direct-to-consumer product for connected cars by
the name of Hum. This $120 state of the art gadget which comes with $15 monthly
service charges consists of two main parts. A cellular modem plugged into the
diagnostic port and a Bluetooth connected speaker.
It’s
supposed to predict any problem that should arise with your car. In the app,
information like overall vehicle health, battery juice level, miles per gallon
are included. Verizon however is moving a step further than its competitors and
is offering features like parking location reminder, stolen vehicle finder,
mechanic hotlines, emergency as well as roadside assistance.
Andres
Irlando, CEO of Veriozn Telematics says,
“Our research shows that over
two-third customers
are interested in connected car experience.
We see this as
an opportunity to address unmet needs”.
