Once Giant Selfie App, Frontback Shuts Down

It was only two years back that frontback made an appearance and took the heart of two million users in an instant. ‘Frontback’ launched by Fredd della Faille in 2013, allowed its users to capture pictures with the front and the back camera simultaneously, hence giving it a very special edge over other selfie apps. At that time its sudden success due to its bipolar nature rendered it to be the equivocal of the likes of ‘Instagram’ and ‘Snapchat’.
But unfortunately for its users the app is now shutting down. The app's goal was to "capture a moment," says founder Fredd della Faille in a blog post announcing the news. "This was a fresh idea and truly the heart of our vision, a concept that’s seeing massive adoption today. Unfortunately, Frontback is not the winner."
Adding the reason for the decision he wrote, “While we’ve seen exciting results with some communities, for most of the new members it takes too much time and effort to understand why Frontback is different, resulting in an infrequent use of our product. After discussions with our team and investors, we realized that we couldn’t reach the critical numbers that would make Frontback a sustainable social network.”
The data for the users will be available till Sep 15, 2015 in order to allow them to export all their pictures and data, after which it will be deleted from the main server, but the app will discontinue its service as of 15 Aug, 2015.
Following rumors of twitters potential acquisition of the app for $40 million opposed to the $4 million of apps own funding, the founder was reported to have said that Frontback wanted organic growth: "We don't try to acquire users... So the quality of the users is way, way better."
Having the users the likes of the Belgian President, Ashton Kutcher and many other, we can safely say that organic growth might have just led to its decay.
Frontback is no more folks.
